Mumbi Baskin is the pioneer and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the first Kenyan, female minority owned Full Restaurant in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex that has been in operation for over 10 years.
She has a heritage of entrepreneurship that includes setting up Sokoni Market entity in 2005.
She has strong ties to the diplomatic community through her work with the the US Embassy in Kenya and the various diplomatic missions in the United States.
she has ventured into various fields like commerce, a collector at Citi bank before finally patching in the hospitality industry.
As an active member of the community in the greater Dallas Fort Worth area, she is also a board member of Kenya Diaspora Advisory Council (KDAC) and former Ambassador to the East African Chamber of Commerce, of which its headquarters is based in Dallas, Texas.
Her awards include: recipient of the first 2015 DEAR Awards for best restaurant, recipient of the first ever Queens Night 2014 for the Leadership and Business Entrepreneurship Award and African Diversity Award by the City of Dallas.
She is a graduate of Oxford University in the United Kingdom (UK).
She resides in Fairview, Texas and is a mother of four wonderful children and grandmother of three .
